Liberals aren’t helping the issue. They are sabotaging the efforts of moderate Muslims to help women attain equality by promoting the ludicrous notion that somehow nikab and hijab is feminist. If a white Canadian woman was to join a cult where she was being exploited , they’d all rally to get her out of it instead of saying “well it’s her choice”. As a woman who once wore it, it isn’t just a garment. It is not a bloody hoodie. It makes you second class simply by virtue of wearing it. It ghettoises those women. They will find it harder to integrate even WITHIN their own community, ie with other more liberal Muslims. They’ll only hang out with each other, and their beliefs become more fundamentalist. Racism is engendered in us It has been and always will be human nature to want to socialize with and work with people who are like us. That will not change. the people in the American continent and other western countries in Europe which are predominately Christians and liberals are now faced with a difficult challenge; since the free western world allowed the Muslim immigrants from the Muslims and other Arab countries to take refuge in their own countries, now they are engaged in a constant battle against their respective contrasting values, religious principles, and cultural practices....the big question now is which thoughts and culture will prevail? because, unlike the conflict on slavery centuries hence, the issue and concern then was merely black or white people or racial (about color of the skin).....now it is more relatively sensitive, complex and extremely serious......my issue thus, is how can a liberal, freedom loving and religious tolerant western society deal with an intolerant, discriminating, extremely arrogant and most often violent Muslim believers living in their own communities.......Clearly Europe and America is being Muslimized..my worry is that Europeans do not see the semblance between Muslim with communism...both seek to overthrow the prevailing order to fit theirs.

No, Canada is not a “big place with lots of room”!!! Over 70 percent of immigration, more if it’s illegal, settles in the Toronto area, which with its terrible infrastructure, lack of roads and housing is a nightmare to live in. We already are the 6th worse commute on the planet! We are up there with Bogotá, Columbia and Istanbul, Turkey! so what exactly is the problem? there are laws in canada - no you can't just walk in a stay and get benefits. if there is misinformation in the community migrating north, then who is at fault? if anyone from any country, regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation - anything - thinks they can just go to another country with no strings attached they're crazy. I get the feeling this is meant to look like a racist issue - it's not. if you're white as snow, speak english and carry a bible, the rules are the same - you come legally, and go through all the paperwork and checks that are required.

I hate that at my work that we have a 5 foot rule; if a customer is within sight in 5 feet of you, you are to ask them if they need help with anything. Whether or not we suspect them of stealing. We don't discriminate racially, we do this with every person who walks into the store. Which is ridiculous because our store is very small and we have anywhere between 3 and 6 employees on the floor at any given time. So, inevitably, every customer is offered help many many times in their visit. I am always worried that a person of colour will think I'm profiling them, when I'm really not. I genuinely just want to know if they're finding everything they need or have any questions. If we were to racially profile based on the people who have stolen from us in the past, we'd be going after every white person who walks in the store. In my 3 years working there we have had only white people steal from us. So sick of the race issue, we're all humans. The amount of melanin in our skin should not matter.

I agree racism is an issue but the part with Islam, that is cultural not race. That was proven by the fact the woman actress whose race is Mid Eastern had no idea that other Mid-Easterners suffered these comments when they dressed in obvious Muslim clothing. There is a difference between Race and Culture. Irregardless, we need to treat each other like we want to be treated. All cultures have common things among its members that are unpleasant to people of other cultures. If we realize that about our own culture, we can empathize with others.

I am actually shocked to see this information. I did not know. I travelled to Vancouver & Vancouver Island 5X. 2X with my African-American girlfriend. I didn't see any biased behavior at all. Of course, I was not looking for it. We were treated courteously on both sides of the boarder. My grandmother was held as a White slave for most of her youth (indentured servant) in Canada. So, I knew through her that it was one of the possibilities. I am sorry to learn of it. This is a great issue for Americans to get over.

I am czech, we relatively recently (1989) get rid of totalitarian communists here.I just do not get how is it possible that Canada or Muslims in general are so welcoming to the totalitarian systems - where women are forced to cover the faces. I mean - why the feminists or free thinkers are defending some practice, which is obviously against women and 99% of women wearing it worldwide are forced to do so by men - in countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran. Where is the liberalism and western values gone in Canada ? This is pure nonsense to present it like a freedom. It just reminds me of communists in France/Italy or elsewhere during cold war..... thousands/milions of people have died in the same time in USSR and in the meantim those idiots have embraced marxism in Paris/Rome or elswhere..... disgusting morality in my opinion. Completely wrong attitude. This issue is quite clear to anybody... islam and it's form taken in Saudi Arabia or elsewhere has nothing to do with western values neither with women rights.... wake up.

Muslim lady speaks outside of her house and discusses issues we have with the religion, because of this she fears for her safety from her own community. It shows the deep problems we have with the western values and the Muslim community, yet here we have people tip toeing around the issue saying we have no problem, its religion and beliefs and peace and love and we should just accept all Muslim communities even tho this lady is telling you the problems right in front of your faces. There is so many videos you can find showing that Muslim community neighbourhoods do not want non-Muslim's in there community and they want Sharia law and they are not tolerant to outsiders and anyone that thinks different to them, even those from within there own community. 2 good examples are the town Dearborn, Michigan and Luton Town, UK of just how lack of tolerance for non-Muslim people in Muslim majority communities they have.

The issue is islam, not all muslims. Unfortunately those two often go hand in hand, making it hard to criticizes islam without people thinking you are criticizing all muslims, which isn’ the case. \n\nThe issue with the religion of islam is that it is inherently not peaceful (If you want to discuss why that is more so the case than other religions we can do that). In fact in many situations you will hear Islamic muslins part of a western country use the free speech given to them, under the laws and constitution of that society, in order to impose the suggestion of sharia law. This would mean no more free speech (and far more dire consequences) for others not of islamic belief under sharia law. Sharia law is a set of religious political laws used in the majority of middle eastern Islamic countries and cultures. It is truly a backward and barbaric set of laws, incompatible with democracy and I encourage you to investigate that claim. \n\nSo essentially decreasing islam in any scenario will also decrease the political climate it wants to live in. And not only live in, but given to text in the Koran, effectively dominate. Religious assimilation and toleration is not part of the religion. And in the small case that it is, those religious peoples are second class citizens. \n\nSo you can see how it may sound harsh to say “get rid of islam/muslims” if you are ignorant to the fact of both their possible separation and islam’s eventual political goals. \n\nNot all muslims want sharia law or are as fundamental/radical as others, but that distinction can be hard to make for many people, when a lot of them are silent. All you see are the riots and bombings across the globe by radical islamists, with little or no condemnation by the former. However once again I state, the issue is islam, not all muslims.\n\nIf you think I myself am ignorant of any of this information please attempt to convince me otherwise and I will thoroughly read your argument.

As a young child I remember viewing the Amish women as being in a chronic 'state of funeral' based solely on their signature dark garb. It created in my own (childlike) logistics that this was a type of society which I needed to keep at a distance from myself. I disliked their choices, finding them muted in a world layered thick in rich and vibrant fields of color. The color black in ancient cultures (apparel) indicates the refusal to acknowledge or be unresponsive, to be closed off. I can understand how many real (natural) Canadiens can view Muslim women in their communities in a strange light. An interview with a very rich Saudi woman (living in Saudi Arabia), in how she spoke of her own frustration by not being allowed to own a drivers license, instead being driven in her husbands pricey Mercedes by a hired driver. She forced this issue on her local, home town government when she attempted to embarrass the officials of this primitive law, which in her view, had outlived its purpose and no longer applied to modern women in her culture. This interview went viral being shown on multi media networks and the town became embarrassed by the exposure. We should all applaud these women for their natural right to be free from outdated ritual and constraints continue to impose these indignities upon women. Muslim women living in Canada who wear the typical dark cloth across the features of the face and over the body are putting forth a message that they are 'second class citizens', are 'less than equal', are 'one mans property' - not unlike a common barn yard animal but possibly owning less importance than an animal since an animal can be traded for goods or services for profit. One can understand how real (natural) Canadien women can view this type of apparel as a slap in the face of their gender, a violent slap to go to the 'back of the line', 'take it lying down and like it'. So much is fear based and these Muslim women should shed their fear as layers of dark folds are sent falling to the floor - once and for all...

I think that I am not trying to take sides..............its your choice..sure...o.k..i get that.. but with all the problems with the Nations security..i think they should be banned...I am not trying to violate anybodies rights..but what about the rights of innocent people who are getting slaughtered cause they wanted to go out and have a coffee or see a movie ??? this is a security act..a measure of keeping all people of this land safe.............sorry but its just a security issue..if a terrorist takes a gun shoots a few people then runs while wearing one..how do you get a description of the guilty party..its like me going into a school with a ski mask in September ...just makes people feel uneasy especially whats happening today around the world.....Peace....

I find that with each generation, the issue with racism becomes slightly less and less, which is great considering slavery was abolished only for about 100 years. I find that living in Canada as a black millenial is much better then say living in the 70s. I never faced racism the entire time i grew up here. but then again I haven't been everywhere in Canada. I think the most you'll experience here right now is indirect racism in the small towns. but you just have to show them who you really are and most will be OK. I don't think a lot of the people still have the mindset left in the 1900s. especially not in the major cities where its so diverse. but there's racism everywhere no matter what you look like. I hope everyone can look past appearance and stereotypes some day.

It is a very good point you make, there is an argument that if the German people had stood up to Hitler then we would not have experienced one of the largest genocides in history but Muslims are often unfairly blamed for actions that are not their own\nThe media does focus on the extremist element but the issue is that if people from a non-Muslim background try to intervene it is labelled as racism which is part of the reason that the politicians are so soft handed with Muslim extremists

These people think they are the superiors out of all human race but the thing forgetting is that there were great empires before like Arabian empires and did not had any issue with any race, color of religion. These pplle love to be racist towards any weak pplle and its a hobby to them, they enjoy it. My advise is to these arrogant, ugly, smelly, alcholic, pedophiles, that take a course of how to be a good human being.
