As a UK citizen living in Canada, I’ve seen how much the U.S. has damaged its relationship with Canada, and I don’t think things will ever be the same. I don’t even blame Trump—I blame the American people for electing a corrupt criminal.\n\nThe reality is, Americans are going to feel the consequences far more than Canadians. You’re the only NATO country without universal healthcare, your education system ranks among the worst in the developed world, worker protections are almost nonexistent, social security is severely lacking, and now, thanks to your election choice, you’ll be paying at least 25% more for groceries under a leader who’s steering the country toward authoritarianism.\n\nIt’s embarrassing. The world no longer revolves around America, and people are tired of its self-centered, individualistic mindset. It’s time to wake up.

We are angry - with those people who ignorantly voted for Trump and those people who chose not to vote. Not the people who chose to vote democratically to remain a democratic country. We are clear that his real agenda is to use this trade war to attempt to coerce us into becoming the 51st state. For MANY reasons, we will not EVER become part of Trump’s America. Canada, the Ukraine, Greenland and Panama are stepping stones to that end goal.

I live in Nashville, TN USA. I am so sorry Canada is suffering due to Trump. I do not support this move on Trump's part. I never voted for him. Trump wants a 4.5 Trillion dollar tax cuts for the wealthy. He sees tariffs as a way to make up some of that money alone with huge budget cuts to many of our programs. I can tell you that The fastest Boarder Wall that I have ever seen go up is the one that Trump just raised between the United States and Canada, the Tariff Wall. What you have done is put signs on our shelves, buy Canadian. You have taken American Product from the top shelf, to the verry bottom shelf, behind the Made in China. You have closed the Travel Agencies to United States travel, nobody wants to go to your country, and I heard that there is going to be a 250% Tariff on hotel accommodations for Americans visiting Canada. It is not only about the Tariffs on Canada, who Used to be your friends, it is about your new friend Russia, who support Terrorist organizations all over the world, including the ones in Gaza who held Americans Hostage, who supports IRAN who supports Russia in murdering and raping women, kidnapping children in Ukraine, torturing and murdering citizens with their hands tied behind their backs. In California but 1000% Team Canada. I am actively seeking out Canadian products to replace those from red states. (Canadian Mist, Crown Royal and many others are excellent replacements for Kentucky whiskeys.) This is a move Trump himself didn't even want to take. He was forced to do so by the American energy sector. Trump wants america to become completely free of any foreign dependence. The only thing Canada has that the United States depends on is their energy for the Northern US. Trump has slashed regulations and opened land for American companies to start drilling and providing their own energy to the US. They decided against it for record profits. This will for e them to start drilling in the US by making it cheaper than getting energy from Canada. This has nothing to do with Russia. If it did, the US could get all the cheap oil and natural gas as he wants. Putin would give it to the US for free. Trump could careless about Russia or Putin. He wants american energy companys to start doing their jobs and provide energy to the american people at a reasonable cost. But all they are worried about is their record profits.

Looking in from the out side I applaud Trudeau on his speech. But........ Canada needs the USA more than the USA needs Canada. Trump is who the United States elected by a majority. No games..... no fraud..... He IS THE Average large pickup driving, loud and rude American. They went to War to become an independent country away from Europe. Turn off the lights in America! It can be done….Canada provides electricity to most of northern America. Every crisis in America has been helped by Canadians. Canada sends linesmen down to help repair power lines after storms. Canada will always help us, don’t doubt it. Trump and Vance r complete idiots. I see this as nothing less than Trump wanting to do to Canada a slightly more palatable version of what Putin is doing to Ukraine. Trump has openly said he wants Canada to become the 51st state, even though this is a huge ask as Canada has a population larger than any US state (California is close in population size), Canada has a land mass nearly the size of the US and, including water mass, Canada has a larger overall area than the US. Trump also wants Iceland to be owned by America. He has become power crazy during a war because this is his only chance to stoke his ego to undreamable levels. Trump wants to be America's Putin.

Go back and listen to Trump on tariffs. If a country is fair with America, America will be fair with them. Americans do not realize how many tariffs we pay as a country. There are also countries that do not allow us to sell in their countries although they sell to America.\n\nFor years Canada has allowed a steady flow of illegals and drugs into our country. Trudeau is a WEF puppet. A tariff war between Canada and the U.S. is ridiculous to begin with, and it will certainly have negative consequences for the U.S., but much more so for Canada. Let's face it, the U.S. internal market is several times that of Canada. Many businesses in Canada exist only because of their trade with the U.S. The same is not true for the U.S. Trudeau can paint whatever picture he wants to Canadians, but the Trump administration is not made of fools and they are very much aware of the reasons they have for having enforced the tariffs.

I served alongside Canadian military when I served in the US military. They were very tough, honorable, and outstanding professionals. I have friends and family from Canada, and they love America. This trade war is so sad and so devastating for so many Americans and Canadians. These tariffs are so stupid, it's beyond reason. Trump is treating America's best friends and allies like enemies! This is not only dishonorable behavior by a US president, it is despicable!
