I wish you the best ?\nWe, (me my husband and my 7 years old girl) live in the UK Kent county BUT for the last year I stayed to think about moving. We are originally from Bulgaria but Turks and came to UK 10 years ago, we just bought our house 3 years ago, basically created everything from scratch. It is bot an easy task to start from the beginning again but I believe that if Allah maid to think about moving that means He will help you.\nAs a hijabi muslim woman in a community that there are not other Muslims around I can say I feel relatively safe BUT some days I notice the look of hatred in n some peoples eyes. The other thing my girl started to question some topics they have been receiving at school and it is a constant battle for me to keep explaining to her the right and wrong. More over she is listening for now but not sure for future and this scares me.\nAs you said praying and being a practicing Muslim is difficult here as well. We are Turks but do not have Turkish nationality but when we go for religious holidays in Istanbul I feel completely different, it just feels like I have to live there near the mosque. My inner me begging me when we are in Istanbul in the old part of the city to stay there forever. \nI really know what you feel and want. I am looking for Muslim countries where possible we can move BUT unfortunately I made the conclusion that there is not a place even in a Muslim land that we can live the way of peaceful practicing and being a Muslim what we want to be. \nJust advise be careful with the Arab world, other than that if you look at Türkiye I would say do your research really well, not in every town there you can live your religion. Azerbaijan is excellent I would say but they are still under the influence of Russia. \nSo really difficult decision, may Allah guide you. Amin

I am from Pakistan and can't ever imagine leaving my country to go live in foreign lands. Alhamdullilah, I feel very safe here. It is a Muslim country, alhamdullilah, although there is a major class of citizen coming up here who'd like it to be more 'open minded' like the West. May Allah protect us from that day. I would suggest that you move to Saudi Arabia, preferably into or around Makkah or Madinah. I believe that these two are the best cities in the world for Muslims. Imagine saying your five daily prayers in Masjid-e-Haraam or Masjid-e-Nabawi! You kids could study there and grow up speaking and understanding Arabic like Arabs. Imagine the understanding and appreciation they'd have of the Quran and Hadith moreover, they'd be able to reap benefits from the work of all major scholars. InshaaAllah. BUT, on the other hand, you guys are Allah's workers there in Canada. You could do dawah, spread Allah's word (you're doing that beautifully already). You'd be doing what the messengers of Allah did. Think of it this way, if you leave, there'll be one less family supporting Palestine and the Islamic way of life in Canada. Maybe, Allah wants someone like you to represent Him there. Allahu Aalam. There's this beautiful piece of Urdu poetry by Syed Sadiq Hussain, it goes something like this ' Tundi-e-baad-e mukhalif se na ghabraa ae uqaab --- Yeh to chalti hai tujhay ooncha uranay ke liye!' translation:- Do not fear the strength of the head-winds (opposing wind) O' eagle -- it but blows only to help you soar higher! All I'm saying is that there's another way of looking at your dilemma. You guys are like a small, bright light in a dark night and can help lost travelers reach safety. Cheesy, I know. Do Istikhara, let Allah give you His suggestion. Follow it and you can never go wrong innshaaAllah. What ever you decide, our dua'a are with you, uhhibukum fi'llah. Wassalam Wa Rahmah!!

I don’t think the reporter asked a stupid question or showed disrespect. Let’s face it there are many here and abroad that think this way.. so if she is doing her job she will ask the difficult questions and ask what others may think but can’t .. wont or don’t have access to do so. His response was simply the solution is to take the weight off the oppressed n let them live in peace n dignity in their own land.. ??

All of this shenanigans for migrants from across the world especially Muslims ,make me feel sorry for one sector of Canadian society who are always forgotten, never given any mention or notice about their wellbeing, and those people are the NATIVE CANADIANS...they should be the ones to first & foremost have a say about what is happening in Canada afterall they are the original & first people of that land...but sadly they have been neglected for such a long time by the White political establishment...I wonder what they have to say about the state Canada is in right now....what they think about the Muslim immigrants whom their government is taking much a care of.

as a Canadian who is highly educated and, your list is totally on point. I was born and raised here, and at 40yo I would say that leaving has been on my mind for the past 5+ years and will be the likely scenario for me once my grandparents are no longer around. If it weren't for them, I would have left years ago. The two primary drivers for me are job opportunities and the government. One thing I will correct is the wages you presented. The vast majority of Canadians, regardless of whether they were born here or not, do NOT make 6 figures and even the high 5 figures is not as common as people like to think. I have been turned down for work because of being over-qualified more times than not and now struggle on less than 50K/yr with 2 jobs. Just trying to get a part time gig to supplement is a problem despite my decades of experience. As someone who is single, one income just does not cut it here no matter how frugal or minimalist your life is. I can't imagine what its like for those with families. Plain and simple, this country, like many, is failing.

This is a logical result of the fact that for the past 30 years Kanada keeps electing globalists, sociopaths and freedom haters at every level of their government. What did you thing was going to happen? But forget about the economy, these days they are legislating how people should address each other, and even attempting to legislate how people should THINK(!!!). It is insane. \n\nFirst time I visited Canada back in 1995. I loved it. I even considered moving there as I had a girlfriend material in Montreal... Then gradually, after each subsequent visit, of which there were at least 20, my opinion of this country went down and down, until I even crossed it from my list of countries where I would like to spend ANY amount of time, even as little as an airport layover. My last time in kanada was back in 2013. That was when I swore never to set my foot in that lib-swamp ever again.\n\nBurn in your own liberal Hell! I won't miss it...

My family came to Canada 5 years ago. The main reason was because my dad had been busy setting up a branch of his European company here for two years. He wanted to launch this new branch and then retire early. Canada as he knew it was a good option for him to do this. We even had a house long before we came to Canada. And we now live on the west coast of Canada. \n \nFor us, the transition to feeling at home here wasn't particularly difficult. We also had enough experience of what it was like to live in other countries. Canada actually turned out to be a very easy country to quickly settle in. \n \nI've heard that Canadians can be reserved, but my personal experience is completely different. \n \nNevertheless, I got to know fellow immigrants who didn't find it easy to get started in Canada. In my experience, they were not very or only rudimentarily informed about what to expect in Canada. Their expectations were very high and they failed because of the reality of everyday Canadian life. \n \nOthers had similar experiences, but they persevered and ultimately arrived in Canada. Some of my fellow students are international students who are also considering leaving the country because Canada doesn't offer what they were hoping for as a better life here. \n \nThe reasons are really too individual in nature to really generalize. I think there should be a lot more help given to people who are struggling with their fate in Canada, because there are enough programs that they could take advantage of but that they never hear about. \n \nUltimately, it may help if someone just listens to them and perhaps has some advice, no matter how vague it may be. Those who finally arrive in Canada after years of a long odyssey and find this country something like home are, in my opinion, those who never gave up.

What in the hell is all these people going to do in the United States? I don’t think there’s enough jobs for all of them really or are we just supposed to pull our pockets inside out and take care of them this is getting ridiculous. Quit coming to America.

These problems have gotten a lot worse in the last 8 years. I think the main issue is immigration. We are bringing in more people than what we can deal with. I am not against immigration, but just like all the other things the current federal government has done, they are doing immigration wrong. They think immigration is good, so tthey open the hose fully to bring in as many as possible. This is a bad strategy. They should be bringing in a lot less immigrants and that would lessen the housing issues. I think that this is destabilizing our economy to the point where it could have a dire outlook on Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if some provinces leave confederation. What we need is a balanced approach to all things governmental. Not a LEFT or RIGHT solution, a BALANCED CENTRIC solution. Time to vote differntly.

I think you really need to double check the H1-B and subsequent Green Card applications, because my wife and I just went through it and most of this is not what happened for us.

What are you talking about?! This is so devoid of any and all facts, it's literally laughable. We have a housing crisis because too many people want to move here. DEMAND is WAAAAY up, thats why the housing is expensive (see how that works?). We have been ranked second best country to live in, only beaten by Sweden. We are the 24th most ecpensive place to live (not exactly on top). This guy needs to learn how to research. Wow. Dude, I think it's time to go back to school.

Honestly it sucks for Canada.. I mean this country has probably everything any country could wish for. From surface to ressources to access on both side to the two main oceans, having a border with the first world power (it can be a problem but a good thing as well) and while climate isn't always the best, it should he a paradise living there.\nAs a French with what I believe is the best and most generous medical service in the world, to think that Canada spends MORE than us and have it a lot worse is crazy.. How did they manage that? France isn't renown for its efficiency..\n\nOne thing not mentioned though in the video which I find even worse than all of that, is how Canada slowly slipped down in freedom status.. More than any other country!\nCanada lost 6 spots in a single year in the human freedom index and got kicked out of the top 10 to land at the 13th spot.. Canada we're paying Switzerland prices without any of the Switzerland quality. Thanks to our entitled politicians who feel like they can spend tax payer money aimlessly. If you move away from your home country, it takes half the time of your actual age to understand, & get used to the country you move into. \n1) Ikea also offers assembly service for which you have to pay. \n2) home owner/landlord didn’t improve noise isolation issue of their floorings. It’s normal practice of most lazy landlords who only rents their basement for reducing their mortgage cost. Or probably didn’t even know that it is doable.\n3) Employment- I am glad to see you found a skilled workplace somewhat related to your career. If you had to go through odd jobs, you would have left Canada within a month. \n4) Hospitals- Indian Government hospitals works the same way. Priorities go to life threatening patients first. But as an ex-Indian, we love spending arms and legs of money. Our loved ones survive going in private hospitals without insurance. \n5) socializing & jokes- I think you should’ve moved to Brampton so you can be part of the ghettoized community we have created there. so what day by day their crime rates are going high, we can at least understand the joke we can laugh on there. And there is no home sickness feeling.\n6) Weed!! - India has legalized alcohol, tobacco consumption. It does not mean anyone can go buy this. Even to buy legal weed in Canada you have to show your ID. At least that process is followed properly here.\n7) Vegetarian- if you want to follow a diet like this, all you have to request the restaurant to swap the meat with either potato hashbrowns, or if they have soya bean patties. \n8) Struggle- struggle is part of life. There is no requirement of whining about it. What do you need to be concerned is that you are getting an opportunity to go ahead, if you can’t get that that’s an issue. \n\nAnyways , I’m glad you made a video regarding your point of view on leaving Canada. Maybe you are not ready to mentally grow yourself being around people with different community and cultures & co-exist.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Look that up on W5 and Canada is doing nothing to stop this, guess where all the ones at the top of that carousel are from? As long as there are ones operating illegal business earning more than the average hard worker being able to afford higher rent the rent will not be decreased but keep going up. Saying that they are bringing in mostly younger people is a lie too, they bring in everyone. That our workers are aging out and there will be nobody to do the work. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. I will stand with the Christian and I will stand with anyone that I feel are being made to turn over their ways for the sake of others and have their economy shattered in so many ways. Ask yourself what is your government really doing to protect you on so many levels? Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. I read that it really is a problem and some have posted on quora if I owe canada money will I be arrested if I return or what will they do to me. It was quite a high amount on a special credit card he obtained that he maxed out shopping and then selling the goods. Now I know many can do that sort of thing and some by mistake, but those that have no intent to stay... The point is what is being done to protect us from purposeful frauds.

Good solid takes on life in Canada as it stands in the larger cities. My family immigrated in the late 80s when I was a young child to YYZ and the housing prices and quality of living was really solid back then. We moved to YVR in the late 90s and prices seemed to be pretty stable as well. Think things started to change shortly after my undergrad years in the mid 2000s. Unfortunately, the government wanted to increase immigration which is great, but forgot to build out the transportation infrastructure and develop the health care system properly. Foreign credential recognition is really the biggest bottleneck for newcomers. Newcomer employment expectations and what is available to them is not really matching up, I know this first hand as I've worked in the employment enabling sector. Weather as you mentioned is subjective, I prefer the cold, clean crisp air here in Canada, I don't do well in the hot humid polluted weather in most East and Southeast Asian countries. Crime has definitely been on the rise as many people around me have had personal experiences with this topic. Finally housing, to live comfortably in YVR a family income of 150K is probably bare minimum these days.

i see these types of videos all the time, i'm sure there are a lot of videos similar saying something about why ppl are leaving that country (Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Greece etc ...) \ni think the title is correct, there are a lot of delusional ppl in the world who want \na) amazing 6 figure salary \nb) affordable housing \nc) perfect weather\nd) safety with zero violence \ne) perfect infrastructure (health care, transportation, police etc ...)\nf) easy immigration process\nseriously? try getting a Citizenship in the Scandinavian countries and see how that goes!\nthere is NO country that checks all those boxes and in the it's always these immigrants who talk trash about a country they are TRYING to immigrate to while their country is rapidly declining\ni'm grateful for this country and i'm not ignorant, i've travelled to more than 60 countries so i've seen how ppl live around the world and Canada is in the top 5 countries to live in the world maybe top 3 honestly (i'm not being biased, i wasn't even born here) \nppl need to realize that \na) not many countries have open doors where you can just pick where you wanna immigrate to\nb) immigration process is painfully long and expensive, especially to countries where many ppl wanna immigrate to\nc) quality of life is RELEVANT to cost of living so stop thinking that you can get this AMAZING quality of life for a cheap cost\nd) your College Degree from some school nobody has heard of is pretty much useless wherever you immigrate to so don't think you'll be flooded with jobs and that you'll be making 6 figures in a matter of months\ne) you're not that special and the country will not revolve around you, what you want and what you need\nf) there are probably millions of ppl at this very moment who live in much worse conditions than you do so stop complaining about it and be grateful

I'm not Indian, I'm indigenous from Canada and I grew up in Vancouver, where the population is mostly from Asia. Being surrounded by people of asian descent is very normal for me. I don't expect anyone to assimilate and lose their culture to exist here. I knew we had a large population of Sikhs here but I didn't think it was nearly as many as in India... and now I find out there are more sikhs here than in India. Amazing. I also didn't know we had so many Sikhs in parliament, let alone Indians. My school is mostly Indian and everyone I talk to has come from Punjab. Everyone seems to love it here, and the school is in the middle of little Punjab so I've been told by my classmates it is the perfect place for the students who are homesick because they are surrounded by their community. I rarely hear English when I walk down the halls, there is even a course to learn to speak Punjabi, which I want to take so I can talk to the students who don't speak English as well. We have many large gurdwaras, and one near me I've eaten langar almost everyday for the past 10 years. Most people here know Sikhs to be very generous and humble. It was a shock to me when I heard the president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara was shot, because I believed Sikhs to be very kind and peaceful, and the gurdwara has a very good reputation as they take lots of food into Vancouver and feed the homeless. They even opened a kitchen in the DTES during the pandemic to be able to have food available to the people immediately. No one else did anything like that. They delivered a lot of food. Now they have an auxiliary kitchen in the DTES permanently that serves free meals. I thought more news would come out of the shooting but it seemed quiet for a bit until Trudeau accused the Indian government of the attack. This news also shocked me, so I decided to start looking into it slowly. I couldn't really get a good idea of what was going on until I searched a video for Diwali and your videos came up. I will share it with my husband so he can be educated on the matter as well. Thank you for your diligent research and dissemination of important knowledge.

As a Canadian who has lived in almost all the provinces and territories, all my life, I can tell you that a lot has changed as I think the best time or era was in the 1970's and you may have come at the worst time as the worst appears to be now when everything has become too expensive. The other problem relates to Canada, its size, the distances to travel, the smaller tax base with a smaller population than that of United States or India. This is not intended to provide excuses but most people here do not even have a family doctor as many doctors find greener pastures in the United States where the dollar is 30 percent higher in value and salaries are not limited to government health care. It is hard to change when American influence dictates much of what transpires. Homelessness hasn't been a problem but the last five years has provided more hardship for many who find it hard to cope with how things have become.

This has gotten out of control. The US is not the solution to everyone's problems. They think the grass is greener on the other side. So, we already had homeless people on the streets - even the veterans - . Americans are having a hard time, I think that there should be planes/buses taking these people back to the country they lived in. They need to be on the what list. Our country is failing Americans, and a fair amount of those crossing do have criminal records. Seeing a crowd this large, is this going to turn into a civil war? It's sad.

After the years of seeing what this place is becoming i dont plan on having kids in a country where they tell you its okay to be confused . Certain % of people will know what i mean by that . Our government is garbage and dont think things are going to get better anytime soon .

It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. The fact is you’ll never have a good paying job in Canada being an immigrant. When I say this trust me I mean it. Most you’ll get is a minimum wage job which can make you survive the life here. Taxes are high definitely and what I feel is you’re working to make someone else’s life easier. \n(P.S: people who’ve stayed in Canada will understand who I’m implying to)\nNo one wants to be your freind, scope of socializing is zero coz mostly it’s cold round the year so everyone hardly come out, especially in Northern provinces like Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.\nHealthcare is a joke. If you feel sick and not well and you wanna see a doctor be prepared to wait for hours and hours. I once had stomach infection and I had to wait 5 hours till someone could see me. I asked for painkiller at-least so I could bear the pain but they refused that as well. You might well see someone you love dearly and with whole heart die in-front of you and you could do nothing. (I’ve experienced it myself hence saying)\nYou’re a lone survivor who’ll always keep fighting. \nThe only person who can make money here is businesses and high paid jobs which are reserved to Canadians. That’s how Canada’s job market is. Canadians’ first and if there’s something left they’ll look at you. By the amount of money people invest here they can establish a nice business back in their country itself and earn accordingly on own terms. \nMost importantly you’ll cut yourself from all emotional supports like family, freinds etc.\nI was social person back in India who liked making new freinds and memories but it’s nothing like that here. \nAnd it’s the same life, no different.\nYou wake up, dress, eat, go to work, come back, eat, sleep. No different.\nNo fun and nothing. You actually don’t live in present, you live in an expectation of a better tommorow.\nYou’ll always have a smile when you greet someone but I guarantee you no one’s gonna check on you to if you don’t start a conversation even with a simple “Hi”. Mostly Canadians are nice but again some will systematically judge you and say nothing but you’ll see in their actions, the way they’ll talk in a twisted way etc.\nYes I’m not saying that Canada’s bad or it’s no good but trust me it will take forever to build a life here especially with the number of people moving here from round the world. \nIf you’re well off financially from back home Canada’s a paradise for you. It took 6 years for me to get my license. I was almost at the verge of breaking down when I finally got my license. I felt it was really unfair. They should tell us what to expect with a reasonable time frame. Not like just assessment taking 1.5 to 2 years, which is not acceptable. I didn’t even felt any joy when I finally got my license to be honest. I don’t think that any other western country takes this long .

I got here with my wife less than a year ago. My employer doesn't pay what is stated on my work contract. I think there's a lot of abuse from employers on immigrants coming in on closed work permits. The reason we've stayed is because we've invested a lot of time and effort into getting here just to give up easily. Had we known it would be like this, we would have probably not come. Mind you, not all employers are like this, I just happened to run into bad luck. I know of other cases in which this happens and it's infuriating. My wife is a nurse and cant work here as one due to restrictions in her work permit. I guess there's no demand in the healthcare industry here...

Seriously speaking i love this city but as you said it is very expensive to live in live in the midtown both my wife and myself are full time workers and we are managing the expenses, the declining ratio is for sure i blame the government, the bad thing is no matter what every other immigrant whether they lands in halifax or calgary they move to Gta or in toronto, the government should have a check and balance to those people who are nominated in other provinces and moved to Toronto, i dont blame the people it is the government they need to make the opportunity in every province and put a cap on the individual if you are landed in Saskatchewan you should stay in the same place for almost 5 years, if a person or a family live constantly for 5 years at one place they don’t even try to think to move any-other city unless they have some serious issues their, i am also an immigrant a landed PR from Pakistan Alhumdulillah i work hard my wife does the same Managing the expenses but it’s true it is not affordable for everyone now.

I've been to 30 states in my many decades of travel. The US has become a scarier place over the past 20 years. The politics is very partisan, Evangelicals have expanded their influence resulting in less tolerance of others, gun violence is insane, the poor are very, very poor with no way out, the very, very rich don't want to share at all (contrary to Christian teachings), the US version of capitalism verges on slavery (certainly not what Adam Smith envisioned anyway), the race issues are becoming simply stupid, the MAGA supporters and the socialist far left and wokeness are simply beyond comprehension . . . overall, tolerance for differences is becoming lost. People on the left and the right are equally are to blame. \n\nOne of Canadians' favourite activities is to crap on America(ns). This is unfair. There are wonderful places in the US and wonderful people. Collectively though, I think the US is coming apart at the seams. Canada certainly has its warts and our politics and society is becoming polarized too. But overall I'd say, Canada is friendlier, less violent, not as bigoted, more open minded, fairer, much less hierarchical, and more educated with regard to what's happening in the world. I do like the entrepreneurial bent to the US but its version often comes at a huge cost to people.

America has been crap for a long time, but it's sad to see Canada now going through the same, and deteriorating. Such a beautiful country. My humble request to all those Indians who are unhappy in Canada, may please leave Canada immediately and return back to India. The fact is this that when you are kicked and rejected in India then you think of shifting to another country. I feel the same way about my hometown of Halifax. It's impossible to live here, now. It's impossible to live anywhere in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotians are poor. We are a poor province. We cannot afford 1M+ dollars for a three bedroom house. Common Nova Scotians just don't have that kind of money. Regular folks cannot afford a 5K/month mortgage. I live with my family in an apartment, with a leaky roof and cockroaches, in a decent neighbourhood, and it's 2160.00/month and I know this is a good deal in this city. Crime is rising here, as well, because jobs are disappearing and wages aren't increasing. I think this is country wide. We have a huge homeless problem in Halifax, and it is not following the past statistics. Most of the people living in tents have full-time jobs and families. But, there are literally thousands of empty houses. New appartments and condos get built, and there are no vacancies before the building is open. And not a single person is living in them. They get bought by out of province and out of country investors to fortify their investment portfolios. This is ridiculous. What is happening?

Hi Lynn, this is a very interesting conversation. I moved to Canada in 2003 went to college and became a nurse. First of all it was not easy paying for college I was lucky that husband was supporting with the bills as I went to school. So I would say that I have skills that are very marketable. Our combined family income was over $100,000 CAN. We mortgaged our first home which was very basic for a LOT of money. We had our kids and we had to struggle with childcare as most young families do. By North American standard, we were doing good. We each had a good car ( loaned), we made trips to Kenya every so often but in 2016 we decided we wanted to move back home and we sold our home and we did. I HAVE NO REGRETS. There were several things that made us reach our decision. First, I truly believe that for the Canadian system to work as it does, it has to entrap its residents. Even after 10 years of work we did not have money in the bank. Everything we owned really belonged to the bank. The light bulb moment for me came when I evaluated my net worth. A primary school teacher in Kenya after 10 years of work with good financial management will own a plot, a simple house and will start to invest for retirement. After 10 years of work, there wasn't much in the account, our house would need 25 years to finish paying mortgage and to be honest there wasn't much to show for those years of work. Quality of life really sucks the amount of stress will definitely send you to the grave sooner. This is the case for most first generation immigrants. You might say you are sacrificing and building a future for your children but, my observation was since our diaspora children have not grown in Kenya to see the need for money and what life really looks like without the comforts they are used to, they do not have the same drive as the parents so they often do not excel they are just ordinary. There is also the struggle of growing up as a minority group. A lot of our children because they are seeking acceptance will struggle with self esteem, will have depression or will join the LGBTQ community where they get sense of belonging regardless of their colour. The morals are also different from their parents and they are shaped by the society they grow up in. When I looked at what my life would look like if we kept living there, lets say we eventually pay off our mortgage, when we are old and requiring care, our children will not be able to support themselves and support us because they have to work to sustain themselves so we would to move to assisted living or nursing homes. The cost of senior care is not covered by the government unless you have no money. so we have to sell out home which would be old and outdated but still very expensive and we would have to pay $5000-$10000 per month depending on the type of care we need. so as you can see if we ended in a nursing home for 5 years we will have depleted all the money we made from the sale of our home. So by the time we die, we would not have money to leave for our children. So we worked really hard, supported the economy, and die leaving not much at all for our children, we sacrificed our quality of life, and ended up with children who don't think much of themselves or have very distorted morals. I still remember in my mind as we drove to the airport on our way back to Kenya, I thought of the story of Lot. He was pretty successful in Sodom but I'm very sure on his death bed he had lots of regrets why he ever went there. I know its tough being in Kenya but if you have a job or any way to make ends meet, be like Abraham. God will bless you regardless of whether you are in the dessert.

I am commenting from Canada and seeing people getting frustrated coming on visitor visa to look for work/convert visa to work permit. Even employers with LMIA approval are asking for work permits. Anyone coming to Canada should preferably secured a job or school before coming here. It is so so so expensive and jobs aren’t easy to get without Canadian credentials or experience . Any Canadian credentials including a certificate will up your game in getting a job. Meanwhile while in school you can now work unlimited hours but ensure you stay in school and finish. Be careful with agents promising jobs . It is hard here but once you get into the system hard & smart work pays. And getting into the system can only be done front door. What one pays an agent for visitor visa, you might as well do a one year certificate that’s approved for post graduate work permit. Less headache and better opportunities. When a deal sounds too good think twice- agents are really smooth talkers and super salespeople from what I’m told by those coming here through them. Be wise….I have no regrets coming here I wish I did it earlier as I’d have gained more through longer school options in my youth ?.

I think it's a matter of where someone's blessings are. We have people who go there and are successful and probably live there, we have those who go there maybe for further studies but end up working in their home countries. We have others who don't go there at all they make it in life in their respective countries. Just want to ask question...why are rents so expensive, there? . Iam from New York... do not live there anymore...but when I lived there. .The financial sector has been buying apartments for more than 20 years. I think that is one of the reasons. As their is another reason that I will not mention because it will look that I am racists.. but as well you can make double or triple the wage in N.Y.C . Yes actually I do have a comment or two. I think that Toronto has become the victim of either its own success as a multicultural, diverse and growing metropolis or the perceived idea that Toronto is the place to be. And what that brings with it? Yes, people who are interested in living the life and those who can afford it pay it. You said it very well, the city has become unaffordable to most people but the wealthy or at least those who are getting paid the best salaries and those who bank on real estate take advantage of this, be it the hype or reality since also, most job opportunities are still there. So to me the problem is with the lack of contro of the real estate market. And people who cant pay but for whatever reason live there just have to pay the price. The refugee situation is not surprising to me at all. We are struggling with affordable housing for crying out loud but we are also advertising to the world that we are that welcoming and peaceful society that those people can be part of. But at what cost. Toronto cannot continue like this if it will still be considered as a city for the people and not the wealthy and chronically increasing poor. No wonder they chose a progressive for a mayor and not a conservative or hard line liberal because people want change but not radically. People want to live in the best city they can having all necessary services and in peace and safety. @AlinaMcleod This was a pretty good video, I think it is not a fair video about the city. Toronto is a safe place to live and like anywhere else on earth crime happens. I have travelled around the World and usually in Urban areas. I was in Toronto recently (Sept 2023), like most big cities in the World it suffers from the standard problems. I watched the video and the cuts of Toronto are really nice.\n\n Homelessness in general is a terrible thing, but what city doesn't have homeless?? What major city is affordable? Rent in New York is about $5000 USD for 1 bedroom and we are not talking about something luxurious, in a great neighbourhood. \n\nBig Cities come big problems. We all have to make more of an effort to help change things, not just in politics but at the person-to-person level. People are suffering around the World with homelessness, crime, drug use, mental health and etc. Most of us just focus on what we can have and totally forget about the other humans that we share this planet with.

I get all the angst about how this city has changed, but I'm not ready to leave yet. It's worth noting that what is happening here is happening in major cities all through western civilisation to some extent (or will soon be), especially in similar cities like Sydney and Melbourne. I know that the Toronto I knew and loved is gone, but these problems are medium term issues. I don't think it's going to stay this way forever, and there are good things happening as well. Life is full of ups and downs and right now this is the down part.

Winnipegger here who lived in Toronto 2014-2020, moved back to Wpg 2020-2021 and is now back in Toronto. \n\nFirst and foremost, your comments on crime are inconsistent with the data and blown out of proportion. I suggest viewers take a look at StatsCan’s crime severity index which confirms that Ontario is the safest province or territory in Canada (safer than PEI lol). There are also scores for cities and Toronto is safer than almost every other Canadian city, safer than even Ottawa or Calgary, twice as safe as Vancouver, nearly three times safer than Winnipeg. If we start comparing to US cities, it would be even more shocking. Suffice to say, Toronto is not only safe, but it’s the safest major city in Canada and one of the safest major cities on earth. \n\nThe homelessness crisis has certainly gotten a lot worse, sadly. As has the cost of living, but you get what you pay for.\n\nHaving travelled to 35 countries (doesn’t mean I’m an expert, but I have some experiences in other places), I respectfully disagree and think Toronto is one of the greatest cities. It’s one of the greenest cities in this continent, safe, on the lake, super close to other major cities, great infrastructure (relative to Canadian cities anyway), it’s beautiful and there’s a ton to do, not to mention the diversity. \n\nDon’t be turned off by this, if you can afford it, it’s one of the best places you could live on this planet.

I am born and rasied in Toronto and I would have to say what is happening now in this city is do to the covid fallout. Toronto has always had higher rent then most Canadian cities but I think with the loss of jobs and and the rise in cost of living all over Canada due to covid I would say that Toronto is going through some hard times like everywhere eles in Canda. Unfortunately because it is the bigest city alot of people have moved here in the hope of a better life. I have noticed a rise in drug use but have not noticed a rise in violent crime. They do say that the TTC is got worse...Hard to say as I take the TTC every day across the city and have not noticed any diferance other then more and more people are useing it again. During covid the subway was empty and now all these people that have never used it before are having to learn how it all works and subway edict. I think media is making the subway seem worse then it is. To me it has not changed. I do agree the real problem is dealing with homeless that was more hiden but now is out in the open. Funding from all levels of goverment needs to help all big canadain cites more. I think Toronto will come back again to what it was pre-covid. Hopfully soon!!
