Make that make sense! I couldn't have said it any better. Trudeau was never my favorite person in politics, but this latest stand against the tyrant that is just south of our great country! His justification for his tariff fantasy is the trade of fentinyl across the border and the flow of illegal immigrants to the U.S. As Trudeau has stated, paraphrasing a well known and respected publication, the Wall Street Journal, that this is a very DUMB move! That is an understatement. This is clearly not about drugs or illegal immigrants, it never was. Trump is supposed to be smart? This latest revelation proves otherwise. Just look at how they treated Zelensky during his last visit to the oval office. That showed a complete lack of respect! I fear we are in for a dismal for years!

Remember all the discussions and debate about implementing tariffs on our closest trade partners and allies during the campaigning of the last election. I don’t either…. That must have been discussed on a private call with Putin. Makes no sense otherwise. This is terrible for US end the west overall.

I'm fully convinced now that Trump and Putin are complicit in these tariffs. The outcomes of these tariffs divide us from our allies, weaken the US economy, foment unrest, and create suffering and economic severity in the population. Yes, these tariffs do not make sense until one realizes who is driving them. These are Putin's objectives. Trump has been compromised, and Musk noticed a great buying opportunity. It was either go to jail, or be bought. And he sold us all down the river.

So what is this really about? Makes sense that elon wants the metals and minerals for himself and not for competition in e-vehicles manufactured in the US. And of course the minerals deal with Ukraine is all for elon who will be able to build while his competitors pay huge tariffs for the same materials from Canada or tariffs on vehicles from their auto plants in Mexico. Wake up America. The two devils are stealing everything from ALL of us.

This Tariff war is non-sense.

The United States is BANKRUPT! That is the only reason that makes sense why Trump needs tariffs on product from other countries (Trump Needs to have his people buy American). The USA needs all the money spent on themselves rather than on foreign products. This is also why Trump is pulling a Putin by trying to invade friendly countries, Even this action is to try to force Canada to become part of the United States so that they will own and Control our natural resources. The thing that the USA forgets is Canadians are Proud and Resistant to threats. We will remember this for a long time and even if this ILLEGAL ACTION works you will gain 40 MILLION TERRORISTS Hell bent on killing all Americans!

Trump is doing the same thing to Australia. The US has a trade surplus with us so tariffs make even less sense. Americans are turning on their close allies and siding with Russia. Insane.

What's it about? It's about money. It's about a gangster family in the Whitehouse, and oligarchs in the administration, all trying to make as much money as possible. There's no other explanation possible. That's the only explanation that comes close to making any sense. Now more than ever, even if these tariffs are short-lived, Canada needs to move away from U.S. trade. This is necessary for the long term survival and prosperity of Canada. We need to make every effort to increase trade with the pacific rim, Europe and South America. There may be some short-term pain, but it has to happen. Given the events of the last few years in the U.S., Canadians have to realize that things can get even worse, and will likely never be the same. There is very little reason to believe that the ties Canada has had with the U.S. will ever be what they were, or indeed any reason to believe that that is even desirable now.

Every Democrat was making the point that only the host country pays for the tariffs that it puts on items. Why is Canada upset? If we have to pay the tariffs. And then canada's answer is to what make their own people pay tariffs, that doesn't make any sense. There market is so small that even if they thought they were doing a trade war, their economy will go bottom up in no time.

Trump cannot hold Canada responsible for individuals who become addicted to drugs, overdose, and die. That responsibility lies with the country where these incidents occur, not with another nation. His comments don't make sense unless he is attempting to find a different excuse to jack Csanada up with the tariffs. Shame on you, Trump.

So you claim the tariffs will hurt the US economy, so that means thew tariffs you put in place will also hurt the Canadian economy. Make it make sense.

The tariffs make sense when you realize that trump's real goal is to destroy democracy everywhere so he can be a dictator like Putin.

I'm from Czech, EU is the next stop for Trump tariffs... Common sense can't be used here when he is convinced which side of the trade war will pay for tariffs.... In a sense I know why (optics), but in another sense, I don’t. Why do so many insist on retaliating against Trump’s tariffs with more or higher tariffs of their own? I think it’d be so much more effective if someone said, “You know, we’ve thought about this, and we have come to realize that tariffs are really bad. So starting tomorrow, we will respond by getting rid of all our tariffs. This will make everything we import more affordable. It will make us richer. We hope other countries will join us! If America insists on making everything they import more expensive, lowering their standard of living, that’s their prerogative and problem!”

How does this make sense? Trump being the stupid ass he has always been, put tariffs on imported goods from Canada causing US citizens to pay more for goods from Canada. So PM Trudeau sets tariffs on goods coming in from the US causing CAnidian citizens to pay more for goods imported from the US.\nHaving said that, I do see that PM Trudeau will be causing Canadian citizens to stop buying imported US products, slapping Trump in the face and causing hardship to US manufacturers. These Tariffs don’t help anyone. They make no sense at all!

Presumably the whole point of tariffs on Canada is to raise revenues to cover the tax cuts for the oligarchs that he hopes will keep his or his family permanently in power. From that point of view it makes sense to put the tariffs on the biggest trade partners. The tax breaks the oligarchs get will allow them to buy up and control the media on his behalf. Nothing to do with fentanyl. That's just a lie that US citizens are stupid enough to swallow.

Trump is completely unreasonable. There is no sense dealing with him, period. If it is going to be 25% or even 50% with reciprocal tariffs, we simply DO NOT import American goods into Canada (if our retailers don't order them, there is nothing they can do) and if we export, the consumer is paying those tariffs and we continue to manufacture. I honestly think that is the best, maybe the only, solution. If tariffed countries stop buying American goods, maybe Trumputin will reconsider. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. He isn't known for his brain power.

In a sense, this tariff war is a sign of humility. We as society consume too much, with things we don't need, but waste. Feed the hungry and house the homeless

Nothing Trump does makes sense until you accept the reality that Trump serves only at the pleasure of Vladimir Putin. Nothing about trade wars and tariffs makes sense. The tariffs make sense from the position of trump being an ally with putin. trump is punishing countries that have supported Ukraine, thinking that if he weakens these countries with tarrifs, these same countries will turn inward and discontinue their support of Ukraine. I wonder how much putin has offered to pay trump if trump can strong arm Ukraine into ending the war, leaving russia with land stolen from Ukraine. Donald Trump claims to be a Christian but what he is doing to other countries and his own country by firing people from government jobs is totally against God God gives life he don't take it and he would never have sent people to the streets just because some politicians created a job for the people this is going to cause people to lose their homes vehicles and their livelihood it is totally evil. And then placing these tariffs on other countries is no less than say I want your country he wants Canada he wants Panama, he wants Ukraine's lithium. I voted for him, and now I am ashamed that I voted for him because he never mentioned he was going to do all this horrible horror to the very American people that voted for him.
