I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare. Once these migrants go these jobs will need to be filled presumably by Americans that command higher wages. Apart from the huge deportation project being inhumane and fascist, why is nobody even mentioning the political prerequisite of readmission agreements? You cannot just dump thousands of migrants back on the countries they came from, especially if these are countries that are classed as dangerous and unlivable. Generally they do NOT take them back and even if there is a readmission agreement they will invoke other reasons not to admit them. Immigrants or refugees can also lawyer up and show that they will face prison, torture , persecution, war or starvation in their country of origin which makes it a human rights offence to deport them. I know this because I often interpret EU meetings on migration and asylum. Most immigrants can never be returned and would rather die or abscond than to return as a failed emigrant or be imprisoned, tortured, persecuted, die fighting or of starvation.
